Solör Bioenergy Group is a leading bioenergy player with operations in 249 locations in Sweden and Norway, producing and distributing district heating, steam, and electricity to homes, companies, public offices, and industries.
The business also includes energy recovery of impregnated wood and the production of biomass fuels such as pellets and briquettes.
A subsidiary of Lantmännen Group, northern Europe’s leading integrated agricultural cooperative, Lantmännen Agrovärme produces, distributes, and sells district heating from 19 facilities in southern and central Sweden.
Lantmännen Agrovärme is a stable company that has shown good development in its local markets for several years. However, in order to maintain a continued pace of development, it is important that Agrovärme becomes part of a larger company with district heating as its core business, commented Joachim Haas, CEO of Lantmännen Fastigheter.
On an annual basis, the company supplies around 150 GWh of heat using biomass fuels such as woodchips, forest residues, pellets, and agricultural residue such as straw. Since 2019, biochar has also been produced in several facilities.
For Solör Bioenergi, the purchase means that its position in the Swedish and Nordic energy markets is further strengthened.
Lantmännen Agrovärme with its 19 plants fits in very well with Solör’s other operations and is further proof of our successful growth in the Swedish district heating market, said Martinus Brandal CEO of Solör Bioenergy Group.
The takeover of operations in Lantmännen Agrovärme will take effect in September 2022. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
