The winners of the 2024 annual Argus Biomass Industry Awards have been announced. Part of the three-dayArgus Biomass Conference 2024 taking place in London, UK April 23-25, 2024, the winners were announced at the end of the first day.
Comprising four categories, two individual and two organizational, the 2024 Argus Biomass Industry Awards recognizes the “thought leadership and key efforts of individuals and companies in tackling climate change and leading by example, to bring sustainability to the forefront of business.”
Held on the evening of April 23, 2024 at the Argus Biomass Conference at the QEII conference venue in Westminister, the four categories and winners are:
Innovation Award: This award recognizes a company/venture for a new product, technology, or innovative service launched between 2018 – 2024 that has impacted the biomass industry by successfully solving a key market issue
Winner; Bathan AG, A Swiss company that has paved the way for ceramic-based lubrication systems in pellet production radically reducing grease consumption while increasing press runtime.
Women Thought Leadership Award: This recognizes women in the industry who have helped create more inclusive policy, and engagement and have also displayed key thought leadership on biomass projects, breakthroughs, or overcoming challenges in the industry.
Winner: Irene di Padua, Policy Director, Bioenergy Europe.
Lifetime Achievement Award: This recognizes an individual, with over a decade of “influence and experience” in the biomass and bioenergy sector, for their “tireless support and efforts towards tackling biomass challenges and making key differences in the industry over the last decade.
Winner: Dr Christian Rakos, President, World Bioenergy Association (WBA).
Start-up Award: This award recognizes companies that are startups/SMEs between 3-5 years old that have introduced innovations to the biomass industry that have proven a benefit to the larger biomass community.
Winner: Rare Earth Global, a UK-headed company focused on simplifying access to sustainable industrial hemp products for the energy, construction, and feed sectors.
