With production facilities in Rajahmundry and Kadiyam, Andhra Paper produces a wide range of papers suitable for writing, printing, photocopying, and specialty applications for both the domestic and international markets.

Along with the recovery boiler capacity upgrade, the order also includes an ash leaching system which will remove non-process elements, minimize the chemical loss in the recovery cycle and improve runnability and life of the recovery boiler and a lime kiln which will reduce solid wastes and gaseous emissions.

With this investment, we will be using ANDRITZ-proven technologies to improve reliability and efficiency at our Rajahmundry mill, said Sura Reddy Mallidi, SVP of Mill Operations at Andhra Paper.

The scope of supply, the value of which has not been disclosed, includes the following:

  • Recovery boiler capacity upgrade from 1 300 tds/d to 1 500 tds/d on an Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) basis, which is to be installed and started up during the planned mill shutdown. The key delivery includes an air system upgrade and superheater modification.
  • A new ash leaching plant (ALE) removes the non-process elements chloride and potassium from the Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) ash while recovering sodium and sulphate to the chemical recovery cycle. The plant to be supplied on an Engineering, Procurement, Supervision (EPS) basis is designed to handle 95 tonnes of ash per day.
  • A new lime kiln with a capacity of 190 tonnes/day burnt lime on an EPC basis, including a LimeDry lime mud washing and dewatering filter, an LMD LimeKiln feeding system, a LimeCool, and a LimeFire multi-fuel burner. Efficient lime mud washing with a LimeDry filter provides high-quality lime mud to minimize lime kiln emissions.
